OPERATION CARBOOT COURTYARD
It's my 21st birthday this July, and being a bit of a wrong'un, thought it would be a great idea to ooh, I don't know, re-create Market Garden on a 16 foot board for the occasion....
The premise was supposedly simple - build representations of Son, Veghel, Nijmegen and Arnhem and thier bridges, fill the whole lot with nazis, drop paras all over them and drive lots and lots of british armour up the middle.
Add a sprinkling of alcoholic beverages and it'll make a brilliant birthday!
Needless to say, this has spawned a massive amount of assorted airborne miniatures, some dastardly Germans to square off against and the first half of a truly monstrous board:
and Mr. Al Horrobin, this first half depicts the Son and Veghel bridges.
not bad when you consider most of it was built in one weekend...
From this:
To this: in 3 days!
The madness will continue - I shall post up some more pics of our little corner of Holland, along with my fearless (also victory-less) British Airborne, some of the evil Germans we have on the go and anything else that's relevent.
Hmmm... 13 Bren Carriers and 5 battle tanks in an infantry based game? PROPER JOB!
